Dental Fillings With Our SOLEA Laser
Solea allows Dr. Caramico to repair a tooth without any needles or drills, eliminating any pain, discomfort and numbness the patient may experience when compared to a traditional dental drill. Using Solea, repairing a tooth can now be done in a fraction of the time, compared to when using a traditional dental drill.
What is a Cavity?
Tooth cavities are permanently damaged areas in the hard surface of your teeth that develop into tiny openings or holes. Cavities can be caused by a combination of factors, including bacteria in your mouth, frequent snacking, sipping sugary drinks, and not taking proper care of your teeth – all of which leads to tooth decay. If cavities aren’t treated, they get larger and affect deeper layers of your teeth. They can lead to severe toothache, infection and tooth loss. Regular dental visits and good brushing and flossing habits are your best protection against tooth cavities and tooth decay. This is why it is critically important to have regular dental exams, so we can find these cavities before they turn into a serious issue.
Why Do I Need A Filling?
When decay or fracture creates a crack or a void in your tooth, it needs to be cleaned and the area restored with a filling; we use very natural materials in our office. When the fracture or void gets so large that it compromises the integrity of a tooth, a crown or partial crown may be indicated.
FAQs about SOLEA
What Exactly is SOLEA?
Solea is an isotopic CO2 laser that offers a unique wavelength guided by sophisticated computers to deliver virtually painless dental procedures for both teeth and gums from simple cavities to complex surgeries. The experience is so different that you will find it hard to believe you were just at a dental appointment.
Solea is truly changing what it means to go to the dentist, as it helps to eliminate any fears that patients may have about going to the dentist. When patients have anesthesia, they’d leave the office with that numb feeling. With Solea, patients are able to go right out to lunch or back to work without that numb sensation.
Does SOLEA Hurt?
Our Solea dental laser lets us deliver virtually anesthesia-free, drill-free, blood-free, suture-free, and pain-free procedures for both teeth and gums, from simple filling prep to complex surgeries. Solea can also be used on teeth with previous fillings. Most patients do not even realize what tooth or area of the mouth Dr. Caramico treated and are happy with their experience!
Can SOLEA be Used on Children?
Absolutely! The Solea laser is perfect for children, and for those who are afraid to go to the dentist because of its anesthesia-free, blood-free, drill-free and noise-free advantages. “Not all dental lasers are the same, and the one I use is very unique”, Dr. Caramico says. “Patients don’t experience the post-procedure sensitivity that often comes with a dental drill”.
I'm pregnant. Is it ok to use SOLEA on me?
Yes! It is actually better for you since we do not have to inject you with anesthetic.
Are There Risks with using SOLEA?
Solea is the first CO2 dental laser cleared by the FDA for hard and soft tissue procedures- the first of its kind on the market. There are actually fewer risks in using Solea in comparison to traditional dental treatments. There is less potential chance of bacterial infection because laser treatments are so precise, and there is often far less bleeding during surgical procedures.
Is SOLEA covered by insurance?
Yes, Solea is covered by insurance the same way traditional procedures would be covered. Solea replaces the drill, so billing codes are the same.
Dental Crowns With CEREC
Dr. Tony standing by equipmentIn years past, if you needed to get a dental crown it would require at least two appointments. If something didn’t fit, you would have to get a new impression made and wait another two weeks to have the crown remade.
Thanks to CEREC technology, Dr. Caramico can create same-day crowns, eliminating the need for messy impressions, temporaries and multiple office visits. CEREC also allows him to create inlays/onlays, veneers, custom abutments and bridge restoration.
Why Do I Need A Crown?
Crowns are placed over a tooth to restore its shape, strength and size after a root canal is performed, to cover a broken, cracked or weak tooth, to cover an implant, or to “anchor” teeth that support a bridge.
CEREC Crown Benefits Include:
- Designed, milled and completed in one visit, no need for temporaries!
- Costs less than a lab-produced crown
- Achieves greater accuracy of fit compared to traditional messy impressions and stone models
- Made from the most durable and life-like materials available today
- Excellent long-term studies and results
How CEREC Crowns Work
Using a CEREC camera, we’ll take a picture of the affected tooth and of the surrounding teeth and gums and upload it to our computer where it creates a 3D model of your restoration. Then, with the marvels of 3D printing, your crown is milled right in our office before your eyes. From camera to computer to printer, within minutes, your perfectly matched and durable new crown is permanently inserted and your tooth is complete.
With a temporary crown, the patient has to “baby” the tooth and eliminate flossing, which can then lead to sensitivity and tender gums. Since CEREC crowns do not need to be sent to a lab, the cost is less for the patient, than compared to traditional crowns. There are no dark edges often seen with traditional crowns, and the high performance materials behave similar to natural tooth so wearing of the opposing tooth is prevented.
Having been available for over 30 years with over 250 scientific and long-term studies confirming its safety, compatibility and durability, more than 30 million restorations have been completed using this technology.
Dental Bridges
With CEREC technology, you can enjoy the convenience of same day crowns and same day bridges, saving yourself time, money and inconvenience. Now you can come into our office and leave with your new crown or bridge the same day.
What is a Dental Bridge?
Dental bridges literally “bridge the gap” created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made up of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap-these two or more anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth-and a false tooth/teeth in between.
After you lose a tooth, your dentist may suggest that you get a bridge. A bridge can keep your other teeth from moving out of place, not to mention the improvement in cosmetic appearance. Once a bridge is placed, it works just like your natural teeth.
Why Choose a Dental Bridge?
There are many reasons to choose a crown or bridge, and many reasons why we recommend these procedures to our patients. Following are a few:
- To protect a weak tooth (for instance, from decay), from breaking or to hold together parts of a cracked tooth.
- To restore an already broken tooth or a tooth that has been severely worn down.
- To cover and support a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t a lot of tooth left.
- To cover misshaped or severely discolored teeth.
- To cover a dental implant.
- To make a cosmetic modification.
Dental crowns and dental bridges serve a wonderful purpose in your overall dental health, by providing a replacement for damaged teeth to ensure normal eating and chewing activities, to protect adjacent teeth, protect your underlying bone structure, and to help give you the beautiful smile we all long to have.
