Meet Eric Halejian, DDS

dentist eric halejianDentistry first inspired Dr. Eric when he was a high school junior. His mom convinced him to do a consult at the orthodontist. “Despite my complaints that I didn’t want braces, within the week I had a metal-clad mouth and a laundry list of ways to promote good oral hygiene.”

This experience allowed Dr. Eric to appreciate taking care of his teeth and led him to shadow his dentist and join a mission trip to Costa Rica and Nicaragua. “After my mission trip, being able to help patients maintain their oral health became my main motivator to apply to dental school and join the field of dentistry.”

Education and Experience

Dr. Eric is a graduate of our local Ramapo High School. In 2013, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Ithaca College, where he was an athlete and scholar. He then completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 2017. He also did a general dentistry residency at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey. While there, he received additional experience in all phases of dentistry, including:

  • Implant placement
  • Fixed prosthodontics
  • Restorative dentistry
  • Endodontics
  • Oral surgery
  • Orofacial trauma

While on call, Dr. Eric also managed dental and oral-maxillofacial trauma cases. He is also trained to use the Solea laser, which is a painless, anesthesia-free form of delivering dental care. He will soon be trained in using our CAD-CAM to make same-day crowns, as well as Invisalign®.

“I’m a firm believer in always trying to improve my skill set and am excited that dentistry lends itself as a career packed with learning opportunities.”

Finding Fulfillment in Helping Patients

“I’m excited to be ‘home’ and part of Midland Park Family Dentistry, where I can give back to the community that is so familiar to me and care for the people I grew up with.” For Dr. Eric, the most fulfilling aspect of being a dentist revolves around helping patients feel both comfortable and proud of their teeth, no matter how simple or complex the dental treatment. He went into dentistry to be able to improve patients’ confidence in their oral health, so to finally be able to do that is highly rewarding for him.

Enjoying Life in Midland Park

Outside of work, Dr. Eric loves playing basketball and tennis, two of his favorite hobbies that allow him to have fun while working out. He also enjoys spending time with friends and family. “I am 100% Armenian and hope to participate in a dental mission trip to Armenia in the future.”
